Caution
Cloves contain eugenol which can be harmful.
Eugenol can cause liver toxicity in large amounts. Small amounts in baked goods are unlikely to cause problems. Clove essential oil is more concentrated and dangerous.
Dangerous
Cloves are dangerous for cats.
Contains eugenol which cats cannot metabolize due to lacking specific liver enzymes. Can cause liver damage, vomiting, and respiratory distress. Clove oil is especially toxic.
If your dog has eaten this food and shows signs of distress (vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, tremors, or seizures), contact your veterinarian immediately.
