Cooked mackerel is safe for dogs.
Rich in omega-3 fatty acids and protein. Choose smaller species (Atlantic) which have less mercury. Cook thoroughly.
Caution
Mackerel should be fed cautiously to cats.
While nutritious, mackerel has higher mercury levels than smaller fish. Feed occasionally, not regularly. Cook thoroughly and remove bones.
