Dangerous
Silica gel packets are a choking and obstruction hazard.
While pure silica gel is relatively non-toxic, the packets pose a choking hazard and can cause intestinal blockage. Some contain toxic cobalt chloride indicator. Seek vet advice if ingested.
Caution
Silica gel packets are a mild concern for cats.
Silica gel itself is relatively non-toxic but packets pose a choking and intestinal obstruction risk. Monitor if ingested but generally not an emergency.
If your dog has eaten this food and shows signs of distress (vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, tremors, or seizures), contact your veterinarian immediately.
