Plain whey protein is OK in small amounts.
Some dogs may be lactose sensitive. Check for xylitol or artificial sweeteners in the ingredients. Plain, unflavored whey in small amounts is usually tolerated.

Not toxic but dairy-based and may cause digestive issues. Some brands contain xylitol. Cats don't need protein supplements beyond their regular diet.
